  • Not at all. Therapy is for anyone looking to improve their well-being—there’s no problem too big or too small. Many people seek therapy for support with stress, relationships, life transitions, or simply to feel more balanced and resilient.

  • I offer in-person sessions in Fargo, ND. For those who prefer the flexibility of telehealth, I also provide secure video sessions statewide across North Dakota and Minnesota. This means you can access therapy from anywhere.

    • Cancellation: If you are unable to attend a session, please cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Otherwise, you will be charged $65 for the missed session. This fee also applies to any no-show appointments.

  • Your privacy matters. We safeguard your PHI in accordance with HIPAA and professional ethics, collecting only what’s necessary for care, scheduling, and billing. We don’t share PHI without your written authorization, except when required or permitted by law (e.g., risk of harm, abuse reporting, court orders, payment/operations).

    • Diagnosing: Insurance often requires a mental health diagnosis for coverage, even if a client doesn't meet the criteria. It's unethical to provide an inaccurate diagnosis, which can create a barrier to necessary counseling services.

    • Confidentiality: Your records are much less private. Whenever a diagnosis is made, it must be sent to your insurance company for reimbursement purposes. Your insurance company can audit your records at any time and view this diagnosis. A claims specialist can receive details of your case that you may not want to be shared.

    • Treatment Timeline: Insurance can limit mental health treatment duration, often cutting it short before healing is complete. Opting out of insurance allows for continued, clinically appropriate treatment and provides flexibility in therapy delivery, including coverage for calls and online sessions.
